Blue tits and tea partys

A bit of glue, one of my mums tea cups and saucers, a bamboo cane, and hey presto we have a bird feeder.  And dont they just love it!  I get some satisfaction too.  Hope you enjoy it.  (The Lord of the Manor thinks Im ‘NUTS’)

I think there’s a storm brewing. Lets hope its not a ‘storm in a tea-cup’ !

Hmmmm.  All that time in front of the mirror, straightening my feathers!  Waste of time!

Hey didn’t you see the sign…’Blue Tits only’ !

I think that should do for my tea.

Now which way is home?

  1. ❤️ That’s amazing. I might do this as I have some old teacups hanging around. I used to make teacup candles. I love how the birds clearly love that teacup. Fab pics. X

    1. Mainly sunflower seeds, they seem to love them but also mixed with a bit of Robin food. Im noticing that the blue tits really do think it is their tea party and the robins don’t seem to get a look in unless they have all gone.

  2. Which way is home? Right here in the garden where the tea cups perch!
I used to see these in local garden tours but never set up one in my own garden. Perhaps I’ll do that this year.

  3. What a fabulous idea Alison, and it gives you a clear shot for your camera. Blue Tits are so beautiful and that tea cup is too, I look forward to seeing more photos!

    1. Thanks Laura. Its such a simple idea and yes great for getting some good photos. I put the camera on a tripod and linked the camera to my mobile. I sat in the lounge watching on my phone and clicked away in the warm.

      1. Good idea, I haven’t used my tripod yet, I will have to do that, great idea to set it up inside where it’s nice and warm, I do that sometimes myself.

        1. We have a big picture window and sadly they keep dive bombing it even though we have hung things to prevent it. We have a lot od stunned little blue tits😔 im hoping tha more bird feeders in different areas will help to stop them.

  4. Alison, this is the most adorable bird feeder I’ve ever seen! Not mad at all but totally adorable. The blue tits love it and your photographs are superb. How do you take these perfect photos of them? I love the comments below them all and smiling at the blue tit only sign! As for the final photo … is that snow on the Downs? Hope your novel contraption for the birds survives the next storm. Keep safe and warm this weekend. xx

    1. Thankyou Annika, It was a fun post to do and I really love watching them. I have an app on my phone that connects to my camera so I can set the tridpod up outside near the birdtable then go back in and watch on my phone and click away. It keeps the camera really still and me really warm. We had snow last week and for a day it looked absolutely beautiful but it soon disappeared. x
